Result of Service
The consultant will support the technical assistance delivered on climate change and disaster statistics as evidence of the climate change effects in the LAC region, complementing the technical assistance on developing climate change statistics and disaster information at the national level.
Deliverables include:
• A report with recommendations on statistical and technical processes for the implementation of technical assistance to DA17's target countries to develop a national set of climate change and disaster indicators.
• A report with reflections about the advances, challenges, and opportunities for producing climate change and disaster indicators, including the purpose of the Global Disaster Related Statistics Framework on consultation, and the Global Set of Climate Change statistics and indicators at the national and regional level.

Duties and Responsibilities
This project aims to bolster technical capacities in Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) countries for generating statistics and indicators that contribute to monitoring climate change, understanding its economic and social effects, and serve as evidence for policies that foster resilience and green productive transformation, in alignment with the 2030 Agenda, the Antigua and Barbuda Agenda for SIDS, the Paris Agreement, the Sendai Framework and the Global Set of Climate Change Statistics and Indicators.
The consultant shall execute the following duties under supervision for the ECLAC Environment Statistics Unit: 1.
Integrate a report with recommendations on statistical and technical processes for the implementation of technical assistance to DA17's target countries to develop a national set of climate change and disaster indicators, considering the results and conclusions on other national technical assistance; the reports of the SCA-Working Groups related to disasters of the biennium and , and the Global Disaster Related Statistics Framework on consultation.
(OP Integrate a document with reflections about the advances, challenges, and opportunities for producing climate change and disaster indicators, including the purpose of the Global Disaster Related Statistics Framework on consultation, and the Global Set of Climate Change statistics and indicators at the national and regional levels (OP Perform any other tasks in support of the project as needed.
Qualifications/special skills
An academic degree in Geography, Geology, Natural Resource Management, or a related field, is required.
At least 7 years of demonstrable experience in geospatial and environmental statistical data management is required.
A minimum of 5 years of experience is desirable in at least one of the following areas: i) collection, compilation, analysis and dissemination of statistical data or related area is required; ii) territorial analysis in the field of natural resource management, environment or climate change, ii) in the production of cartography subject related to natural resources, environment or climate change, iii) in project management interdisciplinary projects and experience with other countries in the LAC region, and iv) in training activities projects related to the management of geospatial information.
Languages
Fluency in written and spoken Spanish and intermediate in written and spoken English, are required.
