Senior Backend Engineer role at Copilot Money
Hybrid position based in Santiago, Chile.
You’ll be required to come into the office at least 2 times a week while the rest of the time you can work from home; the office is available if you want to use it more often.

Copilot Money is building a best-in-class personal finance management app for iOS and Mac, expanding to Web and Android.

The Position
We’ve built a best-in-class app for iOS and Mac, and we’re expanding to Web and Android.
We need robust backend APIs and infrastructure that scale across platforms.
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and develop these backend systems and to collaborate with Product and Design to scope, build, and optimize APIs and services that power Copilot across all platforms.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs that support iOS, macOS, Android, and Web applications.
- Contribute to architecture and infrastructure discussions, recommending improvements for scalability, security, and performance.
- Collaborate with Product and Client teams to translate requirements into technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews to uphold best practices and high-quality standards.
- Contribute to improvements in developer experience and system reliability.
- Support the team in technical decision-making and mentor junior engineers as needed.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience working on backend services.
- Strong proficiency in Node.js / JavaScript (TypeScript a plus).
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform.
- Hands-on experience with API design and architecture for mobile and web applications.
- English proficiency — all meetings and internal communications are conducted in English.
- Team player who can manage time independently.
- Based in Santiago, Chile.
Desired Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
- Experience with Firebase / Firestore, CI/CD systems, and monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with performance optimization, scalability, and alerting infrastructure.
- Prior mentoring experience in a collaborative engineering environment.
Compensation And Benefits
- Monthly salary of CLP 3,000,000 – 3,600,000 (net).
