# Job Summary:
In this role, you will be required to prepare geotechnical / soil mechanics engineering calculations and reports produced for one or more projects, under the supervision of an experienced geotechnical engineering specialist.
You will provide input to the geotechnical portion of multidisciplinary engineering studies, coordinate with others the most adequate solutions, and present results to the project team.
As a mid-experienced engineering specialist, you will be required to exercise increasing autonomy and engineering judgment in performing assigned tasks and/or supervising other team members on specific tasks in support of project deliverables as needed, to ensure high-value results.
You will be required to travel to job sites and participate in technical inspections, and/or assist overseeing subsurface investigation campaigns.
_This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project.
Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership”._
# Major Responsibilities:
+ Preparing geotechnical calculations and developing conceptual designs, studies, and reports, mainly for mining projects.
+ Providing input on geotechnical engineering aspects such as slope stability, bearing capacity, settlements, foundations, etc., in support of Civil designs.
+ Supporting one or more projects and studies executed worldwide, as dictated by need and availability.
+ Meeting schedule and budget for the assigned tasks, while following Bechtel procedures and maintaining high technical quality.
Supporting the geotechnical engineering lead on the project to manage the overall work, as needed.
+ Providing technical direction and assigning work to engineers, designers, and drafters who assist on specific assignments in project environments.
+ Seeking input from and coordinating work tasks with other technical specialists, engineering disciplines, and project personnel, as needed.
+ Understanding the standard engineering work planning, scheduling, and cost estimating.
+ Traveling to job sites and participating in technical inspections, and/or assisting in overseeing subsurface investigation campaigns.
+ Reporting to and receiving functional oversight and technical supervision from an experienced Geotechnical Engineering Specialist.

# Education and Experience Requirements:
+ Requires a Civil Engineering professional certification recognized in Chile, with major in Geotechnical / Soil Mechanics engineering, and a minimum of 5 years of experience in this technical field.
+ Requires M.S. or Ph.D. in Geotechnical / Soil Mechanics engineering.
# Required Knowledge and Skills:
+ Able to fluently communicate in English and in Spanish, both verbally and in written communications (high proficiency).
+ Previous experience working on a large industrial EPC project will be a plus.
+ Possesses strong organizational and teamwork skills, problem-solving abilities, a can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs.
+ Possesses good skills in using specialty computer programs such as: Slope/W, Plaxis 2D/3D, Settle, APILE+, or other similar computer programs.
+ Working knowledge of Chilean and international applicable codes, standards, and regulations for geotechnical engineering matters (NCh, ASTM, etc.).
+ Ability to work effectively on teams whose members reside in several distributed offices and whose interaction is most frequently by phone or email, in English.
+ Good verbal and writing skills to communicate with team in preparation of reports, calculations and other documentation (in both English and Spanish).
+ Proactive in reaching others to coordinate and complete the work correctly and on time, in a multidisciplinary environment.
+ Requires autonomy and the ability to exercise a solid engineering judgment in performing assigned tasks.
+ Willingness and ability to travel to and remain at jobsites on generally short-term assignments (from few days, up to several weeks at a time).
