Your Impact
You’ll work in teams of typically 3-5 consultants, playing an active role in all aspects of client engagement.

You will assist client teams in understanding and quantifying risk exposures, evaluating risk strategies, and building and maintaining risk models by being staffed full-time on one engagement or providing ad-hoc assistance to several engagements.
Over the course of each project, you will gather and analyze information, formulate, and test hypotheses, and develop and communicate recommendations risk-based methodologies to support top management-level strategic decisions.

You'll also present results to client management and implement recommendations in collaboration with client team members.

In some cases, you will be asked to travel to your client site.

Additionally, you will have a professional development manager who manages staffing to help you choose projects based on your priorities as well as the needs of client service teams.
You’ll be working in Santiago as part of our global Risk and Resilience Practice supporting clients in many different industries facing challenges of developing and implementing tailored concepts for risk recognition, measurement, and control.

We take a truly global, cross-sector, cross-functional view of risk issues, combining McKinsey’s deep industry insight and strategic skills with a structured risk-management approach, proven methodologies focused on true transformation, analytical tools, and practical implementation.
Your Qualifications and Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or another business-related field; master’s degree is a plus
  • Experience in risk management in any industry sector and/or experience in a consultancy (with risk focus) and/or comparable experience in banking, credit risk, collections, fraud, insurance (actuarial experience with life insurance underwriting exposure and/or M&A actuarial background a plus), capital markets, crisis management, cyber risk, trading/intermediation with significant exposure to risk (e.g. commodity trading in the energy sector), or contract/asset structuring
  • Experience managing people
  • Strong natural entrepreneur and comfortable with risk-taking; problem-solving skills and quantitative and analytical thinking capabilities
  • Strong command of Microsoft Excel and VBA
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adjust and interact with all levels
  • Strong communications skills to facilitate discussions and conduct training
  • Strong project and change management skill
  • Independent self-management skills and ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Capable of executing multiple tasks or projects simultaneously
  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)
