The PhD project focuses on the design, characterization, and testing of adsorbent materials derived from activated industrial ashes—potentially enhanced with enzymes or microorganisms—to capture atmospheric pollutants produced by combustion processes.
As the global community pushes for an energy transition, biomass is increasingly used as a renewable alternative to fossil fuels, particularly in residential heating.
Simultaneously, the incineration of municipal and industrial waste remains a prevalent method for managing non-recyclable materials.
Both processes, however, emit hazardous pollutants such as dioxins, furans, PAHs, and fine particulate matter, posing significant risks to public health and the environment.
Responsibilities
The project offers access to advanced research infrastructure and the possibility of internships in practical, real-world settings, providing a comprehensive and applied research experience.
This Position Is Ideal For Candidates With a Master’s Degree (or Equivalent) In Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Engineering, Or a Related Field.
