Overview

Pacific International Lines (PIL) is a leading global shipping company headquartered in Singapore with operations in more than 90 countries.

PIL is committed to driving connectivity and sustainable shipping solutions, and they are looking for a proactive Accounts Receivables Collector to join their dynamic team in Santiago, Chile.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collections & Customer Follow‑Up
  • Contact customers to obtain timely payment for outstanding invoices.

  • Maintain an updated collection log with status, expected dates, and comments.

  • Escalate overdue accounts to the Account Receivable GFS Specialist & Controller.

  • Support Sales and Operations teams by providing up‑to‑date customer balance details.

  • Issue reminder letters, statements, or receipts as required.

  • Support WNS/Outsourcing cash application & reconciliation.

  • Support record customer payments into LMS/GFS and match against invoices.

  • Identify and clear unapplied/unallocated cash within 5 business days.

  • Support bank reconciliations in outsourcing and/or WNS by providing customer collection details.

  • Assist in the reconciliation of AR subledger vs GL balances.

  • Assist in the preparation of weekly aging and collection status reports.

  • Ensure that customer master data and credit terms are up to date.

  • Support internal/external audit requests by providing proof of payment and communication logs.

  • Follow PIL Group Credit Policy and local Finance SOP for collections and receipts.

  • Ensure segregation of duties between collections and posting activities, aligned with the Account Receivable GFS Specialist.

  • Maintain confidentiality of customer financial information.

  • Comply with procedures for document control and record retention.

  • Suggest improvements to accelerate the collection process or reduce errors.

  • Participate in training on ERP tools (GFS AR module basics / Excel skills).

  • Support the AR Finance Specialist in data‑migration or testing activities when required.

Skills & Qualifications

  • English is not mandatory (basic reading and written level desirable).

  • Technical diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

  • 1–3 years of experience in Accounts Receivable or Collections.

  • Basic knowledge of VAT and customer invoicing processes.

  • ERP familiarity (Oracle, SAP, or any local system preferred).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, filters, pivot tables).

  • Strong communication and negotiation skills in Spanish (native).

  • Detail‑oriented, organized, and able to work with tight deadlines.

  • Collaboration with internal and international departments (e.g., operations, logistics, and customer service) to ensure a seamless and consistent customer experience.

  • Familiarity with digital tools such as sales management platforms, online collaboration tools, and productivity software.

  • Familiarity with maritime transportation services, cargo loading and unloading operations, and global logistics processes.

  • Understanding of international trade and maritime transport terms and regulations.
